How vas-occlusion works:
Echo-VR works inside the vas deferens

The vas deferens are a pair of tubes that transport sperm. During a vasectomy, the vas deferens are permanently severed. Rather than cutting the tubes, Echo-VR is a gel implanted inside. The device is intended to preserve the male reproductive tract.

The vas deferens are a pair of tubes that transport sperm. During a vasectomy, the vas deferens are permanently severed. Rather than cutting the tubes, Echo-VR is a gel implanted inside. The device is intended to preserve the male reproductive tract.

The procedure is minimally invasive

Echo-VR is injected as a solution and forms a sturdy hydrogel within seconds. The procedure does not require incisions, scalpels, or sutures. The gel is inert, but also dynamically-responsive, meaning that it's durable and elastic.

Sperm are blocked, while fluid is not

Echo-VR is designed to block sperm from traveling through the vas deferens. Sperm are then naturally degraded and absorbed by the lining of the vas.

Brad, 28, from Boston

"My wife, Lisa, has been taking the pill for 12 years and hates it. I've looked for alternatives, but nothing appealing exists. I'd like something that's reliable and feels natural."

"Brad and I want to start a family, but we're not ready yet. We'd like a temporary solution, but I'm tired of the hormones. I'm excited about the promise of a new male contraceptive."
