How vas-occlusion works:
Echo-VR works inside the vas deferens

The vas deferens are a pair of tubes that transport sperm. During a vasectomy, the vas deferens are permanently severed. Rather than cutting the tubes, Echo-VR is a polymer gel that is implanted inside, thus preserving the male reproductive tract.

The procedure is minimally invasive

The procedure is done under local anesthesia and does not require incisions, scalpels, or sutures. Echo-VR is injected into the vas as a solution and forms a sturdy hydrogel within seconds. The gel is biocompatible, durable, and elastic.

Sperm are blocked, while fluid is not

The gel blocks sperm from traveling through the vas deferens. Sperm that are blocked naturally degrade and become absorbed by the lining of the vas. Echo-VR aims to be the first long-lasting, reversible contraceptive for men.

"My wife, Lisa, has been taking the pill for 12 years and hates it. I've looked for alternatives, but nothing appealing exists. I'd like something that's reliable and feels natural."

"Brad and I want to start a family, but we're not ready yet. We'd like a temporary solution, but I'm tired of the hormones. I'm excited about the promise of a new male contraceptive."
